Compressing the Circles and Aligning Interests
At their core, all major IT projects involve senior management, functional end-users, and technical end-users. Many endeavors suffer due to poorly understood interdependencies among these three groups. All too often, each of the three constituencies does not entirely understand the objectives, concerns, and limitations of the other two. Much can be lost in translation among the three parties, particularly between functional and technical end-users.
My background, knowledge, and skills allow me to perform three simple yet critical functions throughout IT projects:
* Understanding the specific objectives, concerns, and limitations of all three constituencies
* Effectively communicating with each constituency in a language that each can understand
* Ensuring that each constituency does not make decisions inimical to the other two
With my extensive knowledge of enterprise systems, I am able to “compress the circles” and maximize the overlap among these three groups’ objectives. The end result is more successful IT projects.
I like to think that my philosophy has served both my clients and me well. I have cultivated over 40 from a wide variety of industries including health care, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, education, and the public sector. I have worked with many different organizations that use different technologies in many different ways. As a result, I simultaneously bring both breadth and depth to the table.
